I am reluctant to write this glowing review - much rather would I keep this magical getaway my personal secret. I would give 100 out of 100 stars if I could.
The house: Sparkling clean, double-height rooms, sunlight streaming through large windows, a view of endless sky and tree tops. A fully equipped kitchen with all the staples for cooking, a washing machine and dryer and outdoor grill for delicious BBQs. Fresh flowers in a vase in the living room. We visited for 2 weeks, with three kids in remote school, and the thoughtful owners upgraded their internet connection and ordered a new modem - not because we asked, but because they are perfect hosts who anticipate their guest every need.
The grounds: Oh, so beautiful! Sloping lawns, blackberry bushes, apple trees which we were invited to pick apples from, gorgeous forests, a pond for fishing and swimming with a spectacular view. Our kids couldn't have been happier running around, looking for frogs and caterpillars. My favorite time of the day was waking up in the incredibly comfortable bed, brewing coffee and then sitting on the sunny deck drinking my coffee and breathing the fresh air (yep, we're from New York City and after six months of lockdowns and masks we didn't remember what fresh air is). There is a fireplace outside, perfect for making s'mores on chilly fall evenings.
The owners Angela and Gianni are just lovely. Both go out of their way to anticipate their guests needs and make sure they provide a wonderful experience. Communication is very easy and prompt, and there are so many thoughtful details and personal touches. We were invited to go apple picking with Angela and Gianni, and our kids were allowed to ride the tractor. One of the highlights of our stay was finding fettucine on our porch, home-made by Angela.
A few tips for any lucky visitors: Visit the Weissmann farm stand (like, every day). The chocolate milk is to die for! And don't miss Halloran farm, located right next to you. If you like venison, their products are the best (they supply Per Se in NYC...).
Last but not least, don't be surprised if you're out for a run and suddenly a pet baby deer with a red bandana around its neck decides to run with you, followed by a guinea fowl (apparently the deer's best friend). Yes, it is that magical a place. We wanted to never leave leave.
