"This was great, one simple email from our hosts and we had directions and contact details if needed. We arrived to find a beautifully clean, tidy, and surprisingly spacious wee cottage that was tastefully decorated, packed (not cluttered) with all the mod cons you miss when not at home. Featuring a full length covered deck looking over a working farm if your looking for a taste of NZ this is it. Happily recomend to all. "

However the email that arrived just prior to check-in that advised the use of earplugs to block the sound of traffic and trains…well it was good advice, but arrived a little too late. "We had a great stay at the Kakanui Cube. The house is well-designed, modern, clean, with all the amenities you need (laundry, sharp knives, comfortable bed, plenty of space). We slept so well with the sea air nearby, and woke up early each morning to catch the magnificent sunrises. Equally enjoyable are the sunsets — the way Kakanui is situated you can enjoy both over the ocean. "We traveled from the US to New Zealand to visit our daughter, who is doing a semester abroad in Dunedin. We took her and 2 schoolmates on a road trip with us around South Island. This house was our first stop. It was delightful, clean, as pictured/described and provided an amazing sunrise view. Highly recommend!"

"Comfortable and spacious, close to the town centre and facilities such as Countdown and restaurants. Was sent the address after we had started our trip and had to chase the manager for it. Apparently there was a glitch in the system. Perhaps because the bathroom is new, (with a great tub!), there weren't any towel rails or a shower basket/shelves (found a broken one under the sink)."
