Our family had a wonderful time at this cabin.
It was beautiful. I would recommend arriving for the first time, in the daylight! The cabin is only about 7 miles off of Hwy 33 but it takes about 25 min. The roads are dark & curvy. Apple Maps followed the directions perfectly and we had no issues finding it or checking in.
Our biggest complaint would be about the poor communication with Vacasa, the property management company!
Issue #1 was with the booking.
We booked and paid the initial deposit with a card. (“they” apparently kept this card on file) We received several emails the week that the cabin balance was due, stating we had to pay the balance that day or else our rental would be canceled. So, I quickly paid the balance not knowing that my card on file would be automatically charged the next day.
I called Vacasa and they were clueless/helpless.
The emails were supposedly automatically generated and I had “agreed” for them to charge my card for the balance when I booked it.
I had to call our Discover card and stop one of the payments. Vacasa never helped resolve it.
When we arrived, we were surprised with all of the beautiful Christmas decorations.
I specifically emailed Vacasa before our trip and asked if our cabin would have a tree or any decorations! We lost my dad 2 years ago at Christmas and we were trying to have a Christmas somewhere other than home.
Our kids and grandson were coming to join us and we didn’t want it not “Christmasy”!
Vacasa replied a generic response about not decorating their rental cabins, and we could bring our own but we would be charged additional Christmas cleanup fee if any tree/decor was left behind. So, we loaded up 2 extra totes of Christmas decor & an artificial tree on an 8 hour road trip, up to the cabin!
This was our choice and I don’t regret it. I’d rather have too many decorations than none at all but imagine our surprise to a fully decorated cabin. The Vacasa team could have looked/asked the owner specifically about the decor for us.
The gas fireplace didn’t work.
The ignition switch was broken. This was a big bummer. Especially when we first got there. The cabin was a brisk 65! Brrrr. I reported this on day 1, and through email, and verbally over the phone. I was told that because it was gas, Vacasa maintenance wouldn’t touch it. They would have to send somebody out to fix it. We never heard about this again and it was still broken when we left.
