"It’s important to keep one’s expectations in check. Is this an immaculate luxury hotel? No, it’s dated and a little rough around the edges. But the bathroom, beds, and shared kitchen were clean. Gurdev, one of the directors, was helpful and friendly and gives out his number in case you need anything. "This was our first night's stay in NZ after the plane from Singapore. V friendly lady on reception who gave us some milk for tea. We were allocated room 6 which was spotlessly clean but needs, in my opinion, a new mattress. It is too soft. Kitchen is well stocked. "

"couldn't figure out the shower from instructions until the next morning unfortunately and all the things I wanted from it when booking were disconnected (it looked very high pressure and I'd done a day of sports) bed was good and overall a decent stay. just do expect a basic shower. "

"The room is clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Tracey is an excellent host. We wanted to be close to the Interislander for an early start but traffic noise from the over-night arrivals and departures meant we didn’t sleep very well - it was warm and we had the windows open. Tracey did supply ear plugs but they didn’t quite do the job."

"We stayed for 1 night (New Years Eve) as we were eating nearby with friends and it was very convenient to stay here and get a good night sleep. Had a lovely view of Auckland city and the sky tower. "We stayed in the Polaris cottage. It was clean and basic. It had an adequate kitchen equipped with dishes/utensils for two, a small cooktop, refidgerator, microwave, toaster, etc. This was as expected. However, there was no closet, nor clothes hangers. There were 4 coat hooks on the wall near the sliding entry door. The cottage was dated, but clean, and worked for us. We found it odd that there was no "service" offered while we were there for three days, though. The location was excellent....
