The Wagon Inn is a fantastic place to stay, full of atmosphere and interest. On arrival we were met by the lovely Laura, who obviously enjoys working in the hospitality profession and is very good at it. She insisted on carrying our bags up the rather steep staircase to the bedrooms, which are very clean. The mattress was super-comfortable, but about a foot thick, making it a bit high on the bed-base. Bedroom was very quiet and we slept very well.
We ate there the following day and the food was very good and we were looked after by Michael, who presides over the bar and maintains a very high standard. My wife needed the food to be gluten-free and this was no problem.
The location could not be better, with plenty to do and see within easy walking distance. Parking could be a problem during licensing hours, but we arrived late and there was plenty of space in the car park at the rear.
We were there for a funeral, but if the chance arises, we will certainly return to enjoy the Wagon Inn and its picturesque surroundings.
