Perfect home for a family vacation
This was a perfect place for me, my son, his wife and their two children, ages 7 and 10, to get away together for a few days after Christmas. Despite having to change our outdoor plans somewhat due to rather lousy rainy weather, there were games to play and puzzles to put together and a well stocked kitchen where we made our meals together. And we still worked in several nearby, beautiful outdoor hikes, even if it was slushy. We enjoyed every minute.

Great location
This was exactly what we needed to explore the area. The house was the perfect amount of space and had what we needed. The kids loved playing in the yard and a short distance to the beach and the Porcupine mountains. We loved the area.

Porcupine Place is the place to stay
In Ontonagon, there won't be a better place for the price than Porcupine Place. The home is cozy with it's remodeled updated look, the property and location is great! Our host gave clear and simple instructions for check in. Oh, and it's so close to the State Park. Great experience!

Home to hike from
Very clean very spacious wonderful beds and bedding. I had some trouble figuring out the thermostat at first but there was a heater in the one bedroom and the bathroom. Great proximity to the North Country Trail and the other trails in the Porkies. A very pleasant stay.

Great place to relax!
Deb and Bill have an awesome place to kick your feet up after a long day hiking! Perfect location to see the many trails and views the UP has to offer. They had tons of maps, menus and any other info you need to make any day a fun day! Thanks again!

Great Home Base
This made a great home base for our trip to the Porkies! Location was perfect. Went out hiking and were never far from the house, multiple places to get to the lake. Home was well stocked and clean. There's an IGA a few minutes up the road so you can grab groceries. Overall, highly recommend and would definitely return.

Great home base for touring the area.
Very nice place that was clean, comfortable and had all the comforts needed. Beds very comfortable. Ample towels. Plenty of seating. Had several outdoor activities in the yard and plenty of games indoors for families. Just 10-15min from town and area activities.

Perfect getaway

We enjoyed our stay at Porcupine Place. The beds were very comfortable. We had everything we needed, and definitely appreciated the water cooler. Location is good for exploring the Porkies and many local waterfalls. The owners were easy to communicate with and were helpful with recommendations.

Great stay!
Perfect location between Ontonagan and the porcupine mtns. It was the perfect place to relax after hiking all day or visiting town. We also had a great time looking for yooperlites, unfortunatley we didnt find any but there is always next time!

Perfect location for the Porkies!
Stayed 3 nights and enjoyed hiking the Porkies, drove to Houghton for a day trip (very cool town), and looked for yooperlites at the beach (1/2 mile down the road). The cabin was clean and a welcoming place to come back to at the end of each day and Deb was a great host and very responsive and made great suggestions for activities in the area. Highly recommended!

Very Nice!
This is a very nice place in a beautiful setting. The house was super clean and had everything we needed. The location is excellent. We really enjoyed our stay but would have preferred to have blinds or curtains on the living room & kitchen windows as it didn't feel very private at night. Still, I would recommend.

Good location for Lake Superior Circle Guests
Enjoyed our stay at Porcupine Place as it was a good location to do many things in the area. Owner was wonderful in communication before and during our stay. Left us lots of great tips on sights/restaurants when we arrived as well. Only suggestion is to add a few more chairs in dining/kitchen area. Only had 4 chairs available and with 3 bedroom capacity, could have used a few more, but nothing we didn't adapt too! Thanks for the stay!

Convenient location/great stay
Porcupine Place was great for our annual Mother/daughter trip! It was conveniently located to Porcupine Mountains/Lake of the Clouds and many area waterfalls. Also, only 1/2 mile drive down the road to Green Park for some Yooperlite rock hunting (we found several small ones!) Porcupine Place was spotless! The kitchen was well stocked and the owners even provided a water cooler for those of us not used to drinking well water! When I inquired about a few specific kitchen items (cast iron frying pan, slow cooker, casserole dish) they had them on the counter ready and waiting for me! Beds were comfortable & towels & linens were clean (as in no stains!) Floors are vinyl, so no nasty dirt harboring carpet to walk on. A huge plus in our opinion! We felt very comfortable during our stay. A little heavy on the perfume (but that’s a personal thing due to allergies) and was easily remedied by unplugging the wall units. Our only real issue, as another reviewer recently wrote, was the smell of cigarette smoke. It appears to be a new problem and after contacting the owners and providing details, they assured me that they will be taking steps to remedy the situation. They were very concerned about this issue. I feel confident that future guests will not have this problem. I would like to see blinds or drapes on more of the windows, but again, personal preference. Overall a great place to stay and we would stay again! Thanks Bill & Deb for sharing your home!
