Overall, we made the best of the stay, there was so much space it's a pretty big house.
I received a request for a deposit a day before check-in. That is not stated anywhere on the VRBO or Upstay site. I was disappointed that it wasn't included in the cost breakdown that it was separate. We almost lost our reservation because it came the day before. That should've been worked out the week the final payment was due.
It was difficult to get in touch with the property manager up until the day of check-in. I thought the communication was not good until after we checked in. The property manager doesn't utilize the VRBO email account. Texting directly was great and he communicated in a timely manner and very well in text, but didn’t respond in email.
Overall, the home needs some TLC. The walls should all be painted white to brighten up the downstairs area - the dark colors make it look like a cave. It is very dark in person (pictures look bright and open). We thought we were getting King sized beds in the single bed rooms and they were actually full size beds. It was disappointing. The tubs were dirty and we couldn't get the stains out. I took tons of pictures. The walls and base boards were dirty. The cleaning company didn't do a good job prior to check-in. The carpet needs to be replaced. There are so many bleach stains and dirt throughout the matted carpet and it is beyond cleanable.
The pool was not available for the first two days. It was dirty and clogged with grime. I had to reach out to the property manager to get it cleaned. Most of the appliances do not work. One of the burners on the stovetop won't go off - it is a continuous light on it's pretty scary. The furniture is very worn out and needs to be replaced. The large TV in the family was not working - we called for repairs. The house is big and has wonderful potential - just needs a good scrubbing and updating.
Overall, our stay was good and we had enough beds to sleep in, but there were more challenges than I wanted on vacation.
