Team Visit
I coach a collegiate volleyball team and we stayed here for a local tournament. The location is top notch and the house itself fit us all very well. I would recommend this as a place to stay for any larger groups!

New Years
Our family- including 6 from UK stayed here for 5 nights over New Years. Games, talking and way too much eating! This place was perfect for a large family and has a great beach and a park with volleyball and basketball court. I highly recommend it!

Perfect for Family Gathering
Our second visit to the Mandalay Beach House for our family Christmas gathering. Incredible huge park 3 blocks away, beach across from the front porch, unobstructed sunset every night, great game and dinner table for the 10 adults in our family and the huge open Kitchen/dining/living room space all looking out across the beach and ocean was a treat. kitche/eating/living room space

Wonderful for extended family stay
We held a family gathering (3 families - 14 people) with age ranges from 1 to 60 years old. The views and beach access were amazing and there were plenty of toys/balls for the kids (not really kids) to play with. We were surprised to find that the main gathering area was big enough and with plenty of seating for us all to hang out together without feeling cramped at all. The layout of the house was perfect for finding a quiet room for the sleeping baby while the talking and laughter were going on. The kitchen had everything we needed and the house was very clean. We will definitely stay here again if we are lucky enough to gather as a large family or friend group.

Dated, needs repair, and somewhat misrepresented.
Upon arriving, we were shocked at how faded the home was and how narrow it was based on the pictures listed. The listing makes it look grand. The front door was stuck, and the other exterior door by the front door could hardly be opened. I told the handyman, but nothing happened. The home is dated throughout. There are 24 paragraphs of rules emailed right before your reservation starts. The BBQ burned our steak and then stopped working altogether. The main level is upstairs and it is the only kitchen. We were provided a small amount of tissue, paper towel and dish pods and had to buy our own. One rule is you have to supply your own beach towel. None provided and you're not allowed to take the bath towels to the beach. The downstairs has a sink and refrigerator only. The home is adjacent to a beach park, it's not ocean front, but you still have a great view of the ocean. The windows however were all covered in salt and were not washed before our stay. I expected a little more for over a grand a night..

Great Location - Right Size
We have used this property 10-15 times I believe. We use it for staff retreats and Leadership Team meetings. It's hard to find a place where we can all be together in one location. So this has worked well.

Great Time At The Beach!
Very interesting house with a lot of character! Overall totally worked out and met our larger group’s needs. Kinda sucked that only one of three microwaves was working when we were there but I get it - it was their busy season. Three great fridges. Pretty much only the second floor kitchen is useable for cooking which means you’ll be using that main staircase all day long. Perfect beach access and beach. Awesome living room gathering area. They provided many helpful extras like patio chairs, beach chairs, and beach toys. Communication with host was not at all my style but it worked out in the end. Thanks for a great time!

A great week
This was our yearly family get together. 11 of us in this spacious house with plenty of room for everyone. We had a great time, the house, the water, the beach it was all there for our enjoyment.

Great Spot for All Ages
We met at the beach house from all across the country to celebrate a family wedding. The house was perfect for all, ages 10-85. Plenty of space reunite as a group, as well as finding a quiet space for those needing a time out.

Excellent beach stay!
We absolutely love staying at this gorgeous house. We’ve stayed more than once & would come back. I will say the kitchen downstairs could use supplies, such as dishware, cups, bottle opener, etc. Everything was very clean & comfortable when we arrived. We would stay here again.

Annual family weekend
We stayed at this beautiful home for our annual family weekend. 4 couples and 5 grandchildren. The home was beautiful and the location was perfect, just steps away from the beach. There was plenty of room for all families to be comfortable. We all loved hanging out together in the large living room with ocean views. Check in was very easy. The kitchen was well stocked with plates, cups, utensils, pots & pans, etc... There is a Von's really close by for any forgotten items. Everyone agreed that this home was one of the best we have stayed in.

GG's pre-90th birthday celebration
The house was perfect for our family--4 couples and 7 children. Roomy for some quiet time if desired and plenty of seating for together time. The set-up was great, kitchen well stocked with dishes, pots and pans, etc. Tech stuff all worked. Plenty of beach toys for the little ones. I live in the area and needed a BIG place for all my family and this worked out very well. Would stay again.

great beach house!
This was a great place for my family to gather for a week of family time with a side of the beach! We appreciated having plenty of bedroom space. We loved the very large living room and open kitchen - it was very nice for family hangout time. The kitchen was well-equipped and functional. It was a joy to be able to send kids onto the sand and see them from the patio near the kitchen. No major issues/would recommend and would happily return.

House and location worked out great for all of our CA travelers. The pull out beds were not comfortable and had to go buy an air mattress. We had 20+ guests and did not have enough bath towels and kitchen towels. If renting this house, I would definitely make sure you bring more of the everyday items.

Perfect Site for a Family Gathering
This was our 3rd annual Christmas Family Gathering at a VRBO. The Mandalay House was perfect for us! With my husband and I were our four adult children, their spouses and 6 grand children ages 7 to 10. What was important to us was a large family gathering room, large adjoining kitchen, at least 6 bedrooms and outdoor play space. We all thought that the configuration of the bedrooms and bathrooms was rather interesting, but the beds were very comfortable (including the two "MurphyBeds", there was plenty of hot water & water pressure and towels in the bathrooms, and the penthouse kitchen & "Grand Room" were simply amazing. Our only slight concern was the minimal kitchen dish soap, hand towels and drying towels - but since our advance materials noted that limited amounts were provided we had brought lots of our own as we were cooking all our our meals at the house. We all loved the panoramic views from the kitchen & adjoining Great Room (particularly the sunsets), being able to walk out the front door onto the beach and take the very short walk over to the huge, fantastic public park. All in all, great location!!! Also appreciated the advance information and rapid reply to questions asked from our host.

We had a wonderful time celebrating my husband’s 70th birthday with family and a few friends. Beautiful warm and comfortable environment to hang out and play games together. We’re so glad we found the place. It was perfect for us.

Perfect for a family beach getaway
We had a nice stay here and Steven was a responsive, accommodating host. The home is right on the beach with great bay window views and comfortably accommodated our large family, all under one roof. The Main room and kitchen upstairs is a good/spacious hangout space, and the bedrooms have multiple doors between them and the main hangout area to help block out noise for any babies taking a nap or folks that turn in early. Do keep in mind that you should bring your own shower toiletries and beach towels. But there are plenty of beach chairs available and an outside hose for washing off sandy feet.

Misleading listing; substandard amenities
The listing make it appear that this house is on the beach with an unobstructed 180-degree view of the ocean. Not true. It does have a view of the beach, but it is behind another house. I was expecting to be fully on the beach and was extremely upset to have been misled by the listing. You should include a landscape picture of this house honestly displaying how it is actually situated. The water kept shutting off every 30 minutes to 1 hour. We figured out how to turn it back on each time, but obviously this was terrible. They don't supply toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, soap, dish soap, etc. What? For the price per night, that is like nickel and timing us. There is one set of hot pads -- silicon mitts. I put them on, took a casserole out of the oven, and burned both of my hands. Seriously, burned hands at my son's wedding? Thanks for that. We used a bath towel to take things out of the oven after that, mostly because there were no kitchen towels in the place. The cleaning crew showed up 15 minutes before our check out time and stood in the entry way like a constant message telling us to get out. Super didn't appreciate that. The whole experience felt like the owners expected us to damage their property and break the rules. Come on.... I told you we were a quiet non-partying family gathering for our son's wedding. I'm really disappointed that so many things felt like we were not welcome. Now I feel like I should be given at least a partial refund.

Bridal party get away
We had an incredible stay at this property. I am a Ventura county native and my bridal party and my fiancé and his groomsmen all stayed here for our wedding weekend. It was absolutely amazing getting to overlook the ocean as we had our hair and makeup done before the big day. There was ample room for everyone, it was clean and in a perfect location!

This is our 2nd stay at this Oxnard beach house. The house is not only as lovely as the pictures, the location on the sand is amazing. If you're looking for a great beach location, and especially if you have an extra large group of people you're bringing with you... you can't go wrong with this house. We will definitely be back.
