The rooms and living space were spacious and comfortable and the deck and view, of course, wonderful. The handicapped facilities, also, helpful, BUT they are all on the second floor, the stair chair did not work and the local person we contacted to help us with it offered none at all. There were also not even instructions anywhere about how to work the chair. It would have been very useful to know the layout of the downstairs rooms because the bedrooms are too far away from each other to accommodate a family with little ones being on opposite sides of the house and no indication of the layout. The upstairs bedroom is huge and parents and babies were fine there but it also meant that the person who needed the handicapped facilities had to use the lower level bedroom so was required to negotiate the stairs, with the non-working chair, with far more frequency than we thought would be necessary. However, the WORST was the kitchen!! Every appliance needs to be replaced- only 2 burners on the stove worked adequately, the numbers on the oven dial are almost completely rubbed off but the oven didn't seem to want to be at any temperature except broil anyway - we tried to use it twice and both things came out scorched outside and still cold inside. The cookware, what little there was, was so old the teflon was mostly worn off (not healthy). The refrigerator barely kept things cool - we wouldn't leave any leftovers in it for more than a day. And the dishwasher, well, I had to wash the silverware before we could use it. For such a large and potentially lovely guest home, it was very disappointing.
