I recently stayed over the weekend for a dog show in Williams. The freeway exit was closed requiring travel out of the way, no way the owners can influence this, but it added to the annoyances. The place is located nicely between Williams and Flagstaff making it a great jumping off point for N Az travels.
However, the place is. NOT meant for spending time in. It’s a place to sleep, that’s pretty much it. There is no stove, small refrigerator and if the propane gets used up while you are using the grill, you need to refill the tank yourself and submit a receipt for reimbursement. All this was advertised.
Traveling with a performance dog is tough to try and find dog friendly restaurants, shops etc. so I opted to try and spend time in the cabin to limit the time my dog was crated and stressed. The couch is so uncomfortable! There’s no coffee table or foot ottomans and the “cute” chairs are more for looks, not for comfortable lounging. The satellite TV required frequent restarts. It was stormy and power went out once and I could not locate flashlights or candles.
The coffee maker leaked EVERYWHERE!
If you have long hair, use the kitchen sink to wash your hair, the shower head just barely spits on you and it’s tough to rinse soap let alone a lot of shampoo. The bathroom floors are nicely tiled in a slick pretty polished flagstone. Great to look at, hella hard to slip on getting out of the shower with no floor mat. No counter top space next to the bathroom sink.
The whole place needs a tune up. It smells old, could use some paint, and a good cleaning. The property is shared with 3-4 cabins and it’s located off a busy road. It’s a good location for anchoring travel, just not for spending too much time in. I paid for Sunday night and ended up leaving at 1pm to drive home because I would rather lose the money and sleep in my own bed. I called to leave a message saying I was checking out early, never heard from the property management company. I wrote up a similar review to the property managers survey and no response regarding the poor conditions of the cabin.
Nit picking? Maybe. My mom operates VRBO homes and I know what people look for, clean, safe, quiet and comfortable. This was not it.
