My wife and I had a pretty good time in this cabin overall, though it wasn't quite what we were expecting, so maybe I can add some clarity for future renters. First, this place is run by a non profit that caters to veterans, so the whole place is decked out in military-themed decor everywhere (google patriots4 for details). It's not as comfy-cozy as we would have liked for a winter vacation, with thin blankets, few pillows, and no carpets. The wrap around porch was nice, though it doesn't face the river, which is a shame since the river is beautiful. The property itself was nice as well, there are other cabins nearby but not so close that you feel bothered. The location near Parsons was reasonably close to the hiking we wanted to do, though it would be a long drive on treacherous roads if you wanted to ski every day so don't rent it for that. The only real issue we had besides lack of comfort was that the bathroom floor had some serious water damage that made it feel like we were going to fall through it, though staff assured me they were getting that fixed (presumably after our stay). I was genuinely worried about putting a foot in the wrong place in that room, which made even brushing my teeth an uncomfortable proposition. There also isn't a ton of hot water, but it's workable once you know you should wait a while between showers and not expect a really long hot shower. Overall a reasonable cabin, but I expected something a bit higher quality for the price.
If it were less expensive, the floor was fixed, and it wasn't winter, I'd likely stay here again. As it stands, I think I'll look elsewhere next time I'm exploring the area.
