This was easily the most spacious, comfortable, well-appointed, and generously provisioned home we have ever rented--and with living room and deck overlooking the harbor and Malaga Island. Mornings we watched the fishing boats depart; evenings, we reveled in the sunsets. Two in our party have visited nearby Small Point for some years, but this was our first stay in Sebasco. (We were delighted to discover that we could sit out on the deck at all hours without being pestered by mosquitos!) The bedrooms were roomy and very comfortable. We cooked nightly in the very well-stocked kitchen including steamers from Clam Hunter, lobster from Small Point Fisheries, and fresh fish from Plant’s. That Kathy includes passes to Popham Beach and Totman Cove with the rental is an additional plus. We enjoyed twice daily walks at Popham, especially those days when the surf was up and the surfers were out. The highlight of our lunches out was the new Spinney’s near Popham: now offering not only great views but also great food for a seaside clam shack--and at prices much more affordable than the lunch stop we made in Kittery on our way to Phippsburg. We hope to make September visits to Sebasco and stays at this delightful house a family tradition.
A couple of notes for prospective guests: There is currently (Fall 2022) some home construction and renovation taking place in the neighborhood, but the crews are small and low-key, no disturbance at all. As we would with any coastal home, we brought jugged water for coffee-making. The home doesn’t have a washer and dryer (because, we gather, the harbor side location requires the house to have a holding tank for waste water that a service regularly pumps out), so we packed to avoid needing a laundry trip to Bath. All in all, we could not have asked for more from this beautifully situated home and a responsive, generous host.
