The house had a bit of an odor, like stale bar, but overall was clean, minus a few beer caps found on window sills. The folded towels in the house were very damp from laundering and I’m glad I checked bc they would have been smelly and funky the next day without going back in the dryer. The stair case is steep and narrow, not great for older people and the bathroom is on the first floor by the kitchen not upstairs by the bedrooms. Again if your older not a safe trip down the stairs in the middle of the night. The check in was a bit unwelcoming.Check-in is at 4:00 and we arrived at 4:30 without the check-in info ,then messaged the owner and no responce on how to get in. By luck, I turned the door knob to find the house unlocked. My friend and I entered and got situatated and almost 30 minutes later he sent over the code for the electric door lock...again if your older and have never used an electric door knob, could be a situation. My friend that came along would have been lost in the process. The location of this house was nice, the restaurants and views of the beach made the stay ok. We spent much of the day in Newport and it was about a 20 min drive away. The average temp was cool and in the 50's with a wind chill and drafty windows. The smart thermostat was also monitored by the owner, at some point the thermostat was readjusted from 70 to 65 degrees unknowingly and we had a unwelcoming cool night sleeping on the last night.
