Stayed at Mangrove Dock Condo 6/9-22/19 on 1st floor of the Pelican building. Prior to arriving Caroline emailed information that was extremely helpful. She arranged a taxi to pick us up. Noel stopped at Eldon's so we could get $160 in groceries (reasonable island prices). Caroline pre-stocked frig w/ soda & Roatan beer, cheaper than grocery store.
Unit is 3 bedrooms, 2 baths (master bath small but okay). The bed & baths on one side with kitchen, dining & living room on other. We opened front & patio doors and constant breeze very nice even with the temps of +85. We turned on air conditioning at night from 8pm-7am, cost $160. No one at the condos for the first 5 days. The rest of the trip, there was rarely anyone at the pool.
Walk from the condo to Half Moon Bay & West End averaged 4000 steps per trip. Note – It was really nice not having to rent a car.
Food - Fish plate $5 at Keith Moon BBQ (on beach across from Woody's grocery), Baleadas $1-2 at Calelu (best cheap food), Chick & Fish sandwiches at Half Moon Bay Resort, Fish & Chicken Dinner at Lily Pond ($12 each + drinks), Italian Chicken al Run & Fish Dinner at Pazzo ($60), Dinner at Cannibal Cafe (Mexican, best meals), Dinner at Kismet at Meridian Condos (around $40 each, only diners during sunset, taxi $20 each way), Dinner at Oleaje Tapas (exotic meals), Breakfast at Cafe Escondido ($40 for 4), 16" Pizza at "C Level" (best pizza, drinks $22), dinner cooked at condo from Eldon's - $10/pound grilled Tenderloin with fresh salad.
Drinks – Monkey LaLa at Sundowners $8 & Argentinian happy hour ($4), $1 local beer from stores along West End Road, Iced mocha at Roatan Chocolate.
We hired Noel’s friend, Antonio (boat "La Ola") to take us snorkeling to Blue Channel (shallow-deep, best coral, multitude fish, turtles, sea anemone), Hole-n-the-wall (shallow-medium, lots of coral & small fish), Antony’s Key (deep, huge groupers, small fish to feed, jelly fish, sting rays), Black Rock (shallow, lots of coral & fish to feed, squid), Half Moon Bay Resort (short walk from condo, shallow, coral, turtles every day, lots of fish). Note – best time snorkeling 8-10am. Most divers start 9am. Purchased Reef Band from Roatan Marine Park NGO, rented fins for $30/week & bought cute T-Shirts.
Things to do - iSoar - a sailboat with a leaning mast (on purpose) with a rope to swing out on (near Half Moon Bay Resort). Best was to lay around the pool, the living room & patio with drinks & books.
