Tired & retired !
Had a wonderful stay with beautiful weather! Dishwasher might need checking, dishes in cupboards needed to be cleaned before use. Would stay again !! Elevator definitely a plus for ‘ old farts’ 😂😂

Best OBX property we’ve stayed at
The pictures do not do this house justice; it is larger than it appears and was comfortable for nine total people (four adults, five children). This was our third trip to OBX and this was the cleanest, most well maintained property we’ve stayed at by far. Beach access is close. Quiet, dead end. We would make this our go-to for our annual family trip except it is already booked up most of next year’s season. Thank you for your hospitality!

Not sorry at all!
This house met all of our needs. Everyone enjoyed the vacation! It was nice to be back for a vacation in OBX, after a 3 year hiatus! It was wonderful that the pool was heated(you never know the weather) and that there wasn't any additional charge. The only complaint (which there is nothing you can do about) is the dune that you have to go over! The home is located in a very quiet neighborhood, and the view of the pond offers a relaxing feeling.

Nice house, as advertised
We had a great week at this property. The house has a little west and rear but overall it was a great experience. We like the pool and hot tub. It was a close walk to the beach but could be difficult for some with mobility issues. We were able to make our way over the dune easily. Everything was working and house was clean. Check in was easy. Lots of games and movies to watch on rainy days. I would stay again.

Mother's Day trip
I traveled from Missouri to rent this house for a mother's day trip for my family. While there were a few cleanliness issues, and the hot tub unfortunately broke during our stay the host was always super communicative and helpful in finding a resolution. Will be staying again.

Excited to visit beach with family on fall break after long drive arrived to a less than clean home spent 2 hours cleaning kitchen floor vacuuming 2nd floor bedrooms and beds of hair washing linens. Owner did respond and made some amend; nice local short walk to beach nice hot tub PR

A wonderful place!
This home had everything we needed. The beds were comfy, the kitchen is fully stocked, the pool and hot tub are awesome, and the walk is short to the beach. The property owner was quick to respond to questions, and we had an absolutely wonderful week. We would love to come back to this home!

Great location and home!
The location of this home was perfect! The view of the water and watching wildlife drinking morning coffee was amazing. When we arrived the hot tub was green and dirty but the pool man was there the next morning and cleaned and refilled it. We had an awesome week and loved the house!

Honeymoon Getaway!
Booked for our honeymoon, and we really enjoyed "Better Surf than Sorry" - elevator was incredibly helpful for bringing everything inside! Great check-in process and instructions from owner, too chilly to use pool but had wonderful views of pond behind house from top porch. Sad we had to leave!

Close to the beach
Property is nice and well stocked. Short walk to the beach. You do have to go over a sand dune and if you have medical conditions that limit your walking then this might be difficult to do. Owner told us ahead of time that there were issues with the hot tub so that was expected. One issue we had was with the TVs. The tv in the living eon worked fine, but all other tvs could not connect to the hopper system. We spent 2 hours on the phone with Dish and were told that this was reported the previous week by the guest prior to us, and they were told a technician would need to come out. When I notified the owner he said this was the first he heard of it. Not sure if there was a miscommunication with the previous guest and the owner. Unfortunately, Dish could not get a tech out until the day after we left, so we spent the whole week with just one tv. We had 6 people in our group and everyone wanted to watch something different, so it created some difficulties. This may not be a big deal to others, but it was an issue for us. Other than that, communication with the owner was great… he responded quickly to any inquiries.

Disappointed
The pictures of the walkway to the beach were very misleading and that is the main reasons for renting this property No mention of the 50 yards of deep soft sand up over the dunes to get to the beach. I have knee problems and was only able to get to the beach once as I twisted knee first time out. Also I paid a cleaning fee and was then told if I didn’t wash and put away all the dishes and vacuum the floors I would be charged more. We found old molded bread under one of the Beds so I’m wandering what I’m paying a cleaning fee for. Only one of the 5 televisions worked. Many dvds available with a Blu-ray player just very disappointed

Great place to stay in OBX!
Chris was great to rent from, very responsive and wanted to make sure we enjoyed our stay and had what we needed. I considered this rental to be packed with value, it was the right price point for everything the home offered including location (close to the beach), home layout, and the kitchen (we lean towards cooking all our dinners and eating together) and living area were great. Eight of us stayed the week and everyone was comfortable. I really appreciated how the decking was treated, it was my first trip to OBX where I did not have to pull a splinter due to beat up decking. The kids loved the pool, hot tub, game room, and even the color of the house! It is not a new home, but Chris has clearly improved it, and offers it at the right rental rate. I would rent here again and recommend it to others.

Great location
This property is a good location. Short walk to beach. Bring sand shoes. You need to walk over a dune and the sand burnt my foot. The beach is not crowded and very nice. Communication with the owner was easy. Unfortunately, the house was not as I expected. Many things need updated. It felt old not clean. The cabinet doors still had food marks around handles. The coffee pot to three runs of water to clean out. The toaster had to be cleaned before using it. The pot selection was not enough to cook proper meals. I actually walked across to $ General to get a frying pan bc the one in the house was so gross. By the time I got back my husband had cleaned it to a semi usable state. Our mattress cover had blood stains. My son's sheet (you put them on yourself) was dirty when he went to put it on. The clean sheets are stained. Carpets are very stained. The gas grill was unusable. Hot tub is broken. Even the chairs at the pool - the bottom of the legs are rusted off. The property upkeep was not as expected.

Great Location
My family does a trip to OBX every year around the 4th of July. We had a great time at Better Surf Than Sorry. It was a great house to share with family - plenty of space, plenty to do, very close to a private/gorgeous beach, and a great pool for all to enjoy. We also loved the town and surrounding area. Communication with the property manager was excellent. Overall, we had a great stay.
