This property exceeded our expectations. My husband and I stayed here for our second anniversary/delayed honeymoon. We would have been happy with a comfortable house to use as a home base as we explored the area, but this lovely house was a destination unto itself. We greatly enjoyed the porches for taking in the brisk spring air, and watching the sun set and rise. The property is close to the National Forest, and we felt secluded in the best way, as well as thrilled that we could hike directly into the forest, surrounded by the heady smell of the pinyon pines and junipers as we gazed at the distant mountains.
The interior of the house is airy and tastefully decorated with local art and Southwestern-style accent rugs, and it was so clean and comfortable! We sat in the living room a lot, journaling, sketching, and generally hanging out. We also cooked several of our meals, and the stove was very efficient, though it was an adjustment learning to cook at high altitude.
The owner, April, is very helpful and even went out of her way to make our stay more comfortable. My only regret is not getting to know her and her family better, and not meeting her horses and dogs. Maybe next time!
Overall, if you are looking for a beautiful space for peace and quiet, while also being close to Santa Fe, and a short roadtrip away from Ojo Caliente, Bandelier National Monument, and the Ghost Ranch (and much more), I could not recommend this property more highly! We hope to return in the years to come.
