Our experience was shocking. The rental, managed by Grand Welcome, was filthy and showed signs of very poor maintenance.
It all started when we were about to cook dinner and found several of the pots and pans were in the drawers dirty and a Casserole dish still had baked on food in it. The Teflon was scratched and peeling in the non-stick pans. I contacted Grand Welcome and they sent a person to look at the problem. While waiting for the person, my wife sat down in the living room and saw that the floors under the couches had not been vacuumed. They were not just dirty they had a bag of garbage under them.
The Grand Welcome representative stated that she was shocked by what she saw and would tell her manager. She ended up washing several of the pots so that we had something to make dinner in. She also mentioned that the non-stick pans need to be replaced so she took them and the dirty casserole with her. She then suggested that she change the sheets and towels in the master bedroom because they didn’t look clean. When she changed the sheets, she noticed the mattress pad was dirty so she took it with her.
The following morning my wife went in to the kitchen drawer to get a dish towel and found that it had food stains and clearly had been put away dirty
The same day the manager texted me that the housekeepers would be there around 10 to clean the floors. Instead of coming by to ensure that the rental had been cleaned, she texted me asking if the cleaners had been there.
In addition to the filth, maintenance was a problem. Two of three bulbs in the spare bathroom and one in the master were burned out. Additionally, the kitchen sink was clogged because the garbage disposal was broken. The last day we were there we tried to lock the back door only to find out that it wouldn’t lock so it was unlocked the whole time we were there.
The other three homes that we have rented from VRBO have been clean and as described. This time we ended up in a filthy ill kept property. . .Dirty sheets and towels, dirty floors, garbage under the couch, burnt out lights, broken garbage disposal, dirty and worn-out pots and pans, casserole with baked on food, and a broken door lock.
It is laughable that Grand Welcome site specifically states “For our guests, cleanliness and safety and a well-maintained home complete with modern linens, appliances, and electronics is foremost. You want a well-equipped kitchen, clean sheets and everything working when you
