"First of all, the lodge is exactly as portrayed in the pictures. We absolutely loved our 8 day stay in in this remote and quiet countryside. Lough Carra was beautiful, and we had sheep out front and dairy cows in the back. Beautifully landscaped as well. The caretakers, Jim and Mary were exceptional. "Beautiful, spacious property. Practical Details for Americans: they have a water kettle not a coffee pot, so purchase instant or bag coffee before you come, not beans or ground. They have a washer and dryer. You need to bring pods and be aware, it's a condenser dryer that takes about 2 hours to dry a verysmall load (5-6 items). Be sure to empty the dryer water tank. It's muddy on the property, so bring slippers or alternate shoes plus something to put your shoes in to protect your suitcase....

"We had a very lovely stay at ARD VIEW with Ann being an extremely generous host! The 180 degree view over the bay is stunning and we enjoyed it at all variations of weather that we had in one week. "The cottage was as expected. It was quaint and quiet. The scenery was beautiful. Mike met us at the property and went through everything we needed to know. He followed up later to make sure we didn’t need anything. He was quick to return our call when we had a question. The beds were comfortable and the house had everything we needed. Mary the house keeper/property manager does a great job of keeping it clean and tidy but there are serious things that need addressing in order to maintain the house: the house has damp - stained peeling wallpaper shows this, as do the mushrooms growing out the beam by the front door. "It was lovely. Beautiful drive there. Very isolated. Rustic. Dinner was fine, served with smiles. Staff were all somewhat ‘new’ but they did their very best and can not be faulted. We put in some laundry and had it back within a few hours. Pricey but had to be done. I’d go back there. "
