Very Disappointing Experience and Owner Charged Us for Electrician Visit
I was going to give our stay 3 stars because it is conveniently located and while we had some disappointing things happen during our stay, we enjoyed Southport and were willing to overlook some of the oddities of the place. However, after having numerous issues with the kitchen appliances, the owner has decided to charge us for the electrician visit which they are claiming was caused by something we did. It all started with no water coming out of the kitchen faucet and after contacting the owners were told it's likely the batteries needing to be replaced. After running to the store and paying 32 for batteries (which they never offered to reimburse), we had a working faucet. That was just the beginning of the issues (no power to the dishwasher, garbage disposal button not operational) and after all of it, they charged us. In addition, there is no living area to speak of and from the online pictures this was not evident. There is the kids area which has block seating that is very hard to sit on and uncomfortable. Not to mention the carpet in that room was VERY dirty and we found a fake fingernail in the carpet making us wonder if it's vacuumed. There is not a single sofa to sit on so when hanging out and talking, we had to sit on the hard chairs in the dining room or squeeze into the uncomfortable kids room. There are plenty of options for places to stay in Southport so I would not waste your money staying here.
