Perfect location in St. John's
We were able to walk everywhere and had a wonderful time in this comfortable house. We were three adult friends ending our Newfoundland adventure in St. John's and had a great stay here.

Cute old house on a steep hill. Kind of knew the area so understood some of challenges of a house adjacent row houses on a step hill. Pros: can’t beat the location. Short walk to George and Water street. Easy walking distance to the Rooms and the Basilica. Fairly well maintained. Amazing view. CONS: if more than one vehicle parking is tight. Walking back up the hill can be a challenge if you are not fit. Some of the nearby streets are sketchy but had no problem and never felt unsafe. I Would stay there again. But no drip coffee maker?!!??

A Gem :)
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The home is beautifully decorated, clean, has comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen and is within close walking distance to many downtown attractions. You have a view of the harbour and Signal Hill and The Rooms, George Street, shops and restaurants are close by. We loved starting our day by choosing an album to play on the turntable…brought back many memories! And there was a lovely note and bottle of wine waiting for us when we arrived. Can’t wait to return!!

Great home away from home…close to downtown!
This was a beautiful little place to stay! Lots of comforts and such a convenient location to downtown St. John’s and George Street! Only thing missing was a dishwasher. Beds are super comfy! There were condiments, salt, pepper, oil, and steak spice in the kitchen when we arrived. They also provided coffee pods and sugar. We enjoyed & would stay again!

Just what we needed
Property was very nice and very clean. There were 6 of us in 3 bedrooms. Only 1 bathroom which was an issue at times with 6 people. Great location within walking distance of downtown although you’ll need to be able to walk up steep steps or uphill if walking to the home. Neighborhood initially seemed a little run down in places but we had no issues. Great to have dedicated parking for 2 cars. Seemed like the street was permit parking but there is also general on-street parking nearby on Central St / Livingstone St. We didn’t realize there was no AC and it got hot upstairs (August) but opening the windows helped a lot. Kitchen seemed well stocked although we didn’t find a corkscrew or bottle opener (minor issue really). There was an excellent grill on the patio but no outdoor seating. Overall highly recommended.

Clean, well kept House, close to Everything...
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in St. John's at Gordon's homey and updated squeaky clean property. Walking distance from just about anything downtown. Private off street parking at the front door and all household amenities. Great view of the harbour and a side deck with a BBQ. Highly recommended for a couple or small to medium sized family. Owner very responsive to any questions. Would not hesitate to book again....

unexpected family trip
This trip back home was very short notice and unexpected. Gordon made everything so easy from the check-in to extending our stay one extra night due to airline cancellation. The overall experience with the home was amazing.

Great place to visit
Thank you for providing your home as an option to stay in this beautiful place. St John’s is a great place for people who love hiking. This house was perfectly located for our trip. Very clean, had all household items you need, great internet service, easy walk to all of downtown, easy driving to main sights. We had a great time.

Wonderful location
We stayed 4 nights early Sept 2022, and found Gordon to be very attentive by checking in with us when appropriate. The historic building has been nicely updated but maintaining charm . A culdesac location so traffic was not an issue. 89 steps to downtown fun at bars, restaurants and shops. A definite revisit on our list.

Enjoyable and cosy
We enjoyed our two days here! The location was ideal and we loved the side deck and gorgeous breeze. Everything was clean and well kept, and it was light and airy. Only drawback: we were four people but there was only one bathroom.

Back for a wedding
My Sister and I were back for a wedding and this was the perfect location for a little dinner downtown and specialty store shopping in the day. You will get a workout on the steps back up to the property and then enjoy a beautiful view of the harbor. Also, we arrived to a lovely welcome note and a bottle of wine from our hosts, Gordon and Cathy. Great Stay!!

Great experience!
I had a great weekend at Barters Hill pl, the host is very responsive and caring to your needs. It is also an excellent location, as it is just a five minute walk from the downtown area where you can find many great restaurants, bars, and unique stores. In addition, this is a very cozy and welcoming downtown home, and any guests are sure to have a comfortable and relaxing stay.
