Horrible interaction with owner
I’m extremely disappointed with our experience at this VRBO rental. My daughter and her fiancé stayed here to be close to their wedding venue, but the day of the wedding turned into a nightmare. Their bedroom door shut, and they were locked out. Instead of being at the venue getting hair and makeup done, they were stuck dealing with this issue. When we couldn’t reach the owner, Julia, my daughter called a locksmith, wasting valuable time on her wedding day.
When I finally got in touch with Julia, her response was unhelpful. She said, "There’s a doorstop, so I don’t know why they closed the door," making it seem like she knew there was an issue. She then suggested opening the door with a credit card—something my daughter had no idea how to do.
Julia eventually contacted her housekeeper, who arrived before the locksmith. To my daughter’s surprise, the housekeeper said, "You can cancel the locksmith, I’ve had to do this several times before; I know how to open the door." Clearly, this was a known issue. The housekeeper used a credit card and a knife to unlock the door, but when it accidentally closed again, she had to repeat the process.
To make matters worse, nearly four weeks later, Julia tried to charge me an unlock fee! It’s outrageous to be charged for an issue that was clearly her responsibility. Closing a door shouldn’t be an ordeal. I would not recommend this rental to anyone looking for a hassle-free stay.
