Front door framed by beautiful lead crystal windows leads to roomy front porch for morning coffee, cuddling on the swing seat with a good book, comfortable chairs for gathering. We watched the full moon come over the hill glittering on the Ohio River both from the porch and a bench at the edge of the river bank. "We arrived at 2am (travel delays) to find a property that strongly smelled of smoke in the front room of the property, the bathroom, and the back room. There is an ashtray directly outside the front door for smoking and clearly that has permeated the property. We stayed that night and immediately moved in with family the following morning. With an infant and an asthmatic wife, staying was absolutely non negotiable"

"This was our first time staying at Mountaineer Casino. It was a nice experience. Had the wood fired pizza at Gatsby’s. Very good. The casino was very clean and did not have that smoky/stale beer smell. Good mix of older and newer machines. Had a little luck there as well. The restrooms actually had a pleasant smell, which is rare! The rooms are due for an update but couldn’t your own house use one too? Staff was nice as well. Will return !! "
