Terrible host - awful experience
The house was fine, although could have used more attention to cleanliness. Crumbs and hairs in the drawers, dirt and grime in corners and edges, and scuffs all over the walls. The home was not stocked with anything. We ended up purchasing our own toilet paper, paper towels, and hand towels for the bathrooms to dry our hands. We even had to purchase our own soap as there was not enough for our stay. But the worst part of this experience was the host. Approximately two days before our departure he had said there the home was for sale and that an inspection was scheduled while we were there. We were told we could stay in the home. Then a realtor showed up with 4 families to do a walk through and open house to view the home which was a complete surprise to us When we told them that this is not what we were told would be happening and were not comfortable with it, the host misrepresented our conversation, disregarded that he did not provide adequate notice and said we were making a big deal for nothing. Unfortunately, we were going it in a position where we sat in the residence that we had rented for our family while complete strangers walked around while our personal property was out. Not only was this completely uncomfortable and invasive, in addition we were concerned about retaliation by the host and with no one else to stay were forced to comply with the situation. Awful experience. VRBO customer service was entirely unhelpful.
