Rita fed us like royalty!
Best vacation ever! The staff, concierge and drivers were amazing. The house and yard are lovely. We really enjoyed the pool and sunsets on the veranda. I love that it was so well stocked with everything from kitchen basics to hair dryers. The two washers and dryers were put to good use. But the very best part was having Rita feed us two delicious meals each day. Better than ANY restaurant.

Beautiful house, great location. Pool is awesome, Beach is perfect and private and walk into town! Loved every minute. Highlight is Rita, the chef. Cooked us fabulous breakfasts and dinners almost every day.

Wonderful! Clean and well kept. Close access to the small town restaurants, bars, brewery, market, etc. the grounds were beautiful. Ocean provided magnificent sunsets and daily joy. Pool worked well for 10 adults. We felt safe the entire time. Michelle and Teresita made planning, checking in, and checking out a breeze. Rita the chef was great! Highly recommend.

Incredible vacation spot
My friends and I had an absolute in Costa Rica thanks in part to this property. When we weren't out on adventures we were at the house running from the pool to the ocean to the outdoor showers and back to the pool again. The neighborhood is a little sleepy -- not much going on during the week but that means privacy, quiet, and a chill beach where you're not overwhelmed by people and jet skis. Just a short walk up the beach there is a sailing center where you can rent kayaks and SUPs, as well as a massage tent (they'll come to the house!). Book a fishing charter or sunset cruise and if the weather is nice enough the boat will pick you up and drop you off right at the house. Rent golf carts and take them to Playa Brasilito where you can ride horses, rent jet skis, snorkel, and more. If you are lucky enough to get Rita as your cook you will not be disappointed. She handled all of our dietary restrictions without complaint, and we asked her to get creative. She made the most wonderful vegan desserts, and used fish we'd caught in the morning to make sashimi and ceviche. She made delicious empanadas and homemade tortillas. One of the highlights of the trip and way cheaper than eating at restaurants. There were always plenty of towels and housecleaning came a few times during the week, and internet service was excellent. I would absolutely stay here again!

Beautiful location on the water. The house and some amenities were a bit dated. The property was clean and it was nice having housekeeping come every other day. Rita the chef was terrific and made mornings a breeze by having breakfast ready. I was a bit disappointed in the fact that we had a kitchen sink faucet whose use frustrating because it was broken and leaking water from various parts. I feel like this should have been replaced before we arrived. I was also disappointed with the fact that the main sliding door to the house/2nd floor balcony was broken and unusable after the 2nd or third day. We were forced to use the smaller opening off to side in the kitchen eating area. This should have been addressed immediately so that we were not inconvenienced. I also reported a dangerous situation with a loose metal drain (sharp) in the master shower which was not repaired. Thank you

Costa Rican Luxury!
This place is as advertised. Right on the beach with amazing sunsets, multiple decks to lookout over the ocean, and a clean pool to play in. (Although the ocean was so warm we couldn't pick between the two!) The cleaning service that comes every few days keeps the humidity from making the house feel sticky, and having the option to use the chef for dinners when we didn't want to venture out was such a great option. Would definitely come back in the future.

Big fun in Portrero
House was awesome! Pool and backyard are as good as advertised and shown in pictures. Beach and sandy ocean just a few steps away. Rita was the best part of the trip, as we relaxed and she prepared two great meals every day.

Family Getaway
We discussed a family vacation last fall, decided on Costa Rica and we could not have selected a better home and location! We had 14 people stay at the home and it was a wonderful experience. Everyone had a great time! Everyone involved with Casa Royal was first class. No complaints! We would definitely stay in this home again! Thanks to everyone who made our week so special.

Amazing property
We brought our family of 8 for their Christmas gift this year. My son and his new wife started their honeymoon here and our son his girlfriend daughter and her boyfriend. We did tons of fun activities amazing house. Had a chef one night. Amazing food. Communication was fabulous. Location above and beyond for groceries and restaurants. The beach house amazing food. Las brisas too. Walk to them both. Can’t wait to come back. The beach is gorgeous just outside the gate. And pool is wonderful

Great Beach House
We had a wonderful experience with our family of 12 (ages 80 to 13). The layout of the house was perfect, providing ample space to gather as well as area for some quiet time. Being right on the beach was perfect. Our concierge, Magui was available and quick to respond to questions and help arranging activities. We took advantage of Chef Rita for some meals and she and her daughter were wonderful. The only negative, was inline with other reviewers, the sofa in the main living area is not comfortable and does not make sense for a lounge area. Overall, we had a fantastic time at Casa Royal and would highly recommend it.

Amazing Home and Views
The house was much more than we could have ever expected. There were no downsides to it at all. We were surprised that we had cleaning services twice during the week and a landscaper who cleaned the pool on a daily basis. The views were stunning. The concierge could not have done any more to make our trip a one of a kind experience. We had a medical emergency requiring our daughter to eventually be medically transported back home to the US and the concierge kept those of us that couldn’t be with her abreast of the developments during the first 36 hours until her husband and mine were with her 24/7. I cannot say enough good things!

Beautiful Property, Fantastic Time
Our family stayed for 6 nights and would have loved to stay longer. There were a ton of us all together. My husband and I, 3 adult children two of which have spouses, he’s 17-year-old 15 year-old and four-year-old granddaughter. There was ample space for all of us and everyone had their own bedroom that needed one. Lots of room to spread out. A really well equipped kitchen. Absolutely beautiful grounds and a great pool. We loved. Having the choice of being up on the upper balcony beautiful breezes and an absolutely spectacular view of the ocean or being by the pool area

My Best Vacation yet
The pictures do not convey the beauty of this property. It’s a split level with three bedrooms downstairs and four bedrooms upstairs. Two of the upstairs bedrooms have bathrooms in the rooms. The master bedroom is worth the stay alone. All bedrooms are spacious. There is plenty of room inside for a large group to gather in either of the living rooms. The outside gathering spaces are perfect for hours of relaxation, while listening to the soothing waves. The pool is a perfect size to relax and chat. The backyard is beautifully gardened to make you feel like you are in a Costa Rica paradise. There are two outdoor showers. There is a smaller patio with a gas grill that we used. The house is clean and modern, and there were enough pots/pans/utensils that we grocery shopped and cooked some meals at the house. There is a blender, coffee maker, etc. However, upon our arrival, there were no leftover condiments / odds and end food from previous guests. We bought everything we needed to make our meals. There are also restaurants and shops within walking distance, so you don’t have to go far to eat and purchase small snacks and drinks. We took a longer ride (30 minutes) to a big grocery store to stock the house for meals. The views from this property are what you vacation for. The beach was not heavily trafficked, and I was amazed at how the dogs roam freely along the beach and do not bother a soul. The housekeeper was great! She visited one day, midway through our five day stay, to tidy up and rotate the towels. I had to ask for more wash cloths. We did bring detergent pods and used the washer/dryer at the house. The area felt EXTREMELY safe! When I walked up and down the beach, the area didn’t seem back to it’s pre-pandemic state yet (empty rentals). So, maybe the area is usually more bustling, but for us, we felt like we were vacationing in a non-tourist area, which made it that much more peaceful. Maria from Tropical Homes was THE BEST!! She actually met us at the property upon arrival, to welcome us to CR. Her response time was always fast, she answered every question I had, and she helped me plan a whole itinerary for the group that we vacationed with. We did ATVs, jet skis, massages, and an Adventure Tour, which she prearranged. She also scheduled our Covid testing to be done at the house and guided us to the “bigger” grocery store so that we could food shop for meals. I wish I had her for all of my vacations! Highly recommended!

Amazing views, grand house, great service- got to return!
Everything I can say is positive! The house is as lovely or even better than the pictures indicate! It is well laid out for potentially 4-5 groups. We had 7 adults and 6 children and had very adequate space. The communal space is fantastic, allowing for many different places to congregate. The outdoor area is gorgeous, with lovely landscaping, pool, privacy, easy access to a very private beach and absolutely wonderful sunsets! The gardener, Carlos, is there daily taking care of the yard and the pool. The maid, Nancy, is there every other day and does a fantastic job taking care of cleaning, even around a lot of people. We had a chef one night who provided us with so much delicious food- and did the entire clean up!! The kitchen is very well stocked...we could have just used some more Tupperware to store all our great leftovers! Last but not least, our concierge, Roxy, was so so responsive and accommodating! She was always available and responded in minutes when contacted about anything needing attention or simply a question! She helped arrange transportation, excursions and the chef, and was able to get better prices for us than the listed prices. Potrero is a small town, easily walkable from the house, with plenty of restaurants to eat in. Everyone we encountered was very friendly! Costa Rica was definitely Pura Vida for us this Thanksgiving! We are all talking about when we could do this trip again! Thank you to all!

10 Star Property
Our group of 13 family members just spent 5 nights in this beautiful home and we didn’t want to leave! Roxana our concierge was amazing, accommodating, and SO quick to respond to any questions. The maid came twice during our stay and also did a great job. As for the home - these photos don’t do it any justice at all. We had plenty of space for all 13 people and just the right amount of bathrooms. The supermarket down the road was convenient and within walking distance. The beach was gorgeous and completely empty of humans. It felt like our private beach! There is also a cute beach bar called the beach house within walking distance of the house we thoroughly enjoyed. The pool is well maintained and just the right temperature. The views from this home during sunset are to die for, everyone in our party could not stop raving about the house. We had plenty of beach towels, pots and pans to cook with, as well as dishes and glasses. The tap water is drinkable and we had a chef come to the home to cook dinner for us on 3 different nights. Hugo and his team did an amazing job for a reasonable price. We will be back for sure and would 100% recommend this home to anyone and everyone wanting to visit Costa Rica. Pura Vida!!
