Perfect property
We always take the family to a property over the new years holiday. We enjoyed our time. All of the little touches made our stay great. The house is clean and bright and we had more than enough room for all 12 of us. The host is very prompt will all communication and they provided us with all we needed. The nook is amazing.

Visiting family over Christmas
This property was perfect for our family! We stayed over Christmas visiting family who lives in the area. House was very large and well equipped. We cooked several meals onsite and the kitchen had everything we needed and more! Plenty of space for a large family. The house was separated into 2 areas which was perfect for us with multi-generation needs. One side was cozy and quiet and had a nice ability for quiet and privacy if necessary. It was very cold so we weren’t really able to use any of the outside amenities but it looked like a great place to visit to see the Dunes in season. We would definitely come back and re-rent for a family vacation.

Amazing, cozy and comfortable stay with friends
To begin with, the host was always very kind and responded fairly quickly to any and all questions I had regarding the propery. The property was well kept, clean and spacious. We really enjoyed out stay from arrival to departure. There was plenty of cookware and the kitchen is arguably the highlight of the house for me. We plan to book with this host again. The only complaint we had was that the room that is right where the kichen is did not have sufficient heat as the other rooms did. The heater on the inside of the room was used but the room never got as warm as the others. Apart from that, everything was great!

The Nook
It was a beautiful house and had a lot of bedrooms that were spread apart instead of being on top of each other. The living was a great gathering place even though there were 15 of us. I loved the kitchen with its amazing appliances and two different tables to eat at.

Pleasant stay near the Dunes
Nice place for 2-3 families. The kitchen and gathering spaces are roomy. The yard space is great, and there is ample parking. We were here for Valparaiso University Homecoming, and only had a short stay. Due to our schedule, we were unable to take advantage of the state park passes and bikes, but that was a nice amenity. Penny was a responsive and generous host.

Excellent Location
The house was so close to several different beaches. The backyard was great for my young kids and niece. The layout of the house was perfect for our 3 families to have our own spaces. The only downside is there wasn't really a bathtub for the small children. The one main bathroom had a very leaky faucet and showerhead when running the water. We made it work though. We have plans to return next summer too!

Great Vacation Spot for Mutiple Families!
The was a perfect spot to be for Labor Day Weekend. Close to the Lake, big yard, and plenty of space for multiple families with kids. The place was well stocked and clean…would definitely stay here again!

Three families with multiple kids of various ages, and still an abundance of space! We enjoyed all of what the space had to offer, plentiful outside seating, large yard and play structure, bonfire pit, etc! We would definitely stay again.

Family Vacation
The Nook once again provided us with a wonderful stay for our family. We enjoyed the game room above the garage, bikes and board games. It was perfect for our multigenerational family get together. The Visitor Center at the Indiana Dunes National Park was close by and informative. The beach at Indiana Dunes State Park was exceptional. Trails in the park kept us busy. We were surprised to see that AAA magazine had a write-up this month about the National Park and USA Today voted one of the State Parks trails as exceptional.\ for views of Lake Michigan. Penny is wonderful to work with... Hope to be back there next year. The Large's

Family Vacay
What an amazing opportunity to spend a few days with our children and grandchildren. The house provided places to hang out whether it was in the backyard, game room, living room or enjoying our meals together in the big kitchen. The proximity to grocery, restaurants and of course the beach was superb. Thank you!

Family friendly
Our family met at the house for a vacation together. This house had plenty of space for the 12 of us, plus kid/family activities. There were bikes for us to use, a game room, firepit, large yard, and karaoke. The house is close to beaches, parks, and dunes. We had a wonderful time together. When I asked a question of the owner, she got back to me quickly.

Perfect Valpo graduation weekend stay
Our stay at the this house (The Nook) was amazing for my daughter’s grad weekend from Valpo. It is in a wonderful location and it even included 2 passes into the Indiana Dunes park. I was able to enjoy a bike ride during one of the free moments and visit the park to get my feet in the sand and enjoy the view for a bit. The house was perfect for our family to spread out and our teens definitely enjoyed the game room over the garage. The house was very clean including the bathrooms which was much appreciated. The host, Penny was wonderful when it came to communicating and the beds were so comfortable that my mom wanted me to ask her for the mattress she had selected. This house has great character and it perfect for families. We enjoyed the spacious kitchen for all of us to gather especially at night for some euchre. The coffee and tea bar was also perfectly stocked. Penny was also so kind to leave us a little welcome basket upon our arrival with some goodies to enjoy during our stay, so sweet. There were no issues with the house during our stay. I could go on and on, but this house is definitely a gem in the area and should not be overlooked. We look forward to another stay at the Nook.

Gathering at the Nook
This is a great house with so many things to do right on the property. There’s a big yard for whiffle ball, a huge play set, an air conditioned game room, and so many bicycles in a variety of sizes!! The dining table was big enough for all of us to sit together for meals as well as games. We highly recommend the beach & dunes, but be sure to go on weekdays. Our family also enjoyed the drive-in theater and the farmer’s market. El Salto gets a shout out too! We recommend this house for all it has to offer as well as its location.

Clean and comfortable
The house was clean and tidy. There is a guest guide with house rules and listings of local stores and activities. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, plates, pantry items, etc. The game room over the garage has a ping pong table and other games, and is a fun hang out spot. We enjoyed our family reunion here and have no complaints. We would love to come again.

The Perfect Winter Retreat!
After searching through many rentals, we came upon this gem! My brother was traveling from Sharon, MA and we were in from Las Vegas. With mom in a retirement home in Chesteron, this was the perfect location for all of us. From the initial communications and to the day of arrival, Penny was attentive and extremely responsive. Our 2023 Family Christmas at her home was perfect, with a decorated Xmas tree in the large living area! The game room was a hit with the younger adults. We couldn't really enjoy the outdoor amenities because of a slight drizzle but the firepit looks inviting for the next time. We did take a drive to Indiana Dunes State Park which is close by. Plenty of stores nearby to stock up on necessities. All in all, the perfect place!
