Four of us (two couples) stayed here for a nice long weekend in the Tahoe area. The cabin was just as pictured, a little dated, but plenty of clean linens and a decently well stocked kitchen. They even had some baggies, plastic wrap, and basic oils and spices available. They also provided dish soap and laundry detergent which is a nice plus!
It was a hot weekend and since the house had been closed up, it was hot inside until the first night. If you visit during a hot month, bring some fans with you, they had a small one in one of the bedrooms, but the two box fans we brought with us were a huge help in cooling the place off.
There were a handful of things about the property that need to be addressed. We shared most of these with the Grand Welcome team during our stay.
- Shelves in pantry very dirty - need to be fully wiped down
- Cereal and crumbs on the kitchen table when we arrived
- Most glasses had an oily residue on them - we washed each one before using
- Light in pantry/laundry area doesn’t work (it’s the socket or something, we tried a working lightbulb in there)
- Socket under the bar/kitchen pass through doesn’t work
- Also missing lightbulb and at bottom of staircase (outside) - this felt unsafe at night
- Outside stairs are also a bit old/slanted - not the easiest/safest to navigate
- Lockbox instructions in welcome email do not match the instructions in the welcome text message (did get help when we called the number provided for assistance)
- Cobwebs on light fixture over the dining table (it’s not up too high to reach)
- Screen door to porch had holes where bugs kept getting in
It would also make the place a bit more comfortable if they added a couple of chairs to the living area. We ended up bringing in a couple of chairs from the deck so the four of us could use the area to sit and visit.
Overall, it seemed like the place has been used/rented for years, but when this company took over, they didn’t deep clean or address some basic maintenance issues. I hope they will do so before the next renters use the place.
