First the positives...Julie and Eric were always there for our questions. The staff was always kind and courteous. The pool was a nice size and we mostly had it all to ourselves. The house had plenty of room, the layout was good, we had 7 adults, 6 kids and 1 infant. The bathrooms were very nice. There were plenty of towels and sheets. The kids had fun walking the garden area and picking vegetables and fruits. The gas grill and the fire pit were nice in the backyard, we made smores and roasted hotdogs. Tried to walk the trails but was impossible due to the mosquitoes and spider webs (even with spraying bug spray on yourself). That is just the nature of being on a farm I guess. The location was good, short trip to New Buffalo with lots to do. The things that were slight issues were...2 chairs in the living room area were in need of replacement, when you sat down you sunk so far down you could feel the coils. The front bedroom had a musty smell at times as well as the bunk room. The bed in the front bedroom made very loud squeaky noises every time you moved, don't know if it was the mattress or the wooden frame it was on. We cooked a lot, the kitchen was equipped with lots of dishes but if you plan on cooking like we did you may have to bring some favorite items. The most concerning issues...while at the pool area bees were gathering by the hot tub steps. Two people (one a child) were stung. We did address this with Julie and Eric. They did address it quickly, but because they didn't want to harm the bees, they cleaned the area, made sure there wasn't a nest lurking beneath the steps and tub, and used a natural remedy. But, they came back. I felt like their well being meant more than the guest's. The last thing, which to me and my group was the issue that really made our trip unpleasant was that we killed at least 20 ticks in the house. I know we were on a farm, but I'm pretty sure we didn't bring them in on our person, if so, they would have stayed on our body. We found them crawling on the walls and on the day bed in the living area. We had to constantly be on the look out and it was giving the young mothers anxiety. I give this home 3 stars for overall experience because I was expecting rustic luxury...the pricing per night did not match the quality of the experience.
