I was so hopeful for a nice spring break with my family at this property based on the previous reviews, but unfortunately it was a complete bust. I do NOT recommend this rental for the following reasons:
1) Safety
• the photos in the listing are misleading. The three bay dock and other dock pictured are NOT the dock located on this property. It is not pictured probably because it is submerged under water. Enough to tempt a child to start walking on it and then it sinks. Not operational and not safe.
• not included in the description is the fact that a permanent resident lives directly beneath the rented property. Their back patio is almost unavoidable, esp if you have young kids who like to run around, but it is clear based on the “Private Property,” “No Trespassing,” and windows being held together with duct tape that it is not a place where kids are welcome or safe.
• 2 doors down from the property there is an abandoned/dilapidated house that is either currently or appears to have once been a squatter haven.
2) Cleanliness
• the previous guest’s French Onion dip was left out on the counter to greet us.
• the 30+ year old ruby carpet (perhaps the namesake?) smells and feels as disgusting as you might expect after being near the water and not replaced for that long.
The above concerns were brought to the attention of the owner and they have not been willing to work with us so it was $$$ down the drain, as we didn’t even feel comfortable staying. “You live, you learn” as they say but you should learn from me - don’t book this property.
