Beautiful Getaway Cabin
Stayed for 12 days with my partner and we were thoroughly impressed by all the amenities and privacy provided. Hosts are amazing, very obvious they care about their place and their guests. Bidet was a huge plus for me. Highly recommend.

Forest Cottage Get-Away
Well visiting Dallas, we decided to spend two days in Waco. Staying at the forest cottage was a dream come true! There was not one missed amenity. Doug and Donna gave us many surprises and treats during our stay. The cottage was immaculate, the bed, very comfortable, and communication with Doug and Donna was quick and easy.

Far beyond our expectations!
The cottage was marvelously decorated and stocked with so many amenities, especially for such a small space. Beyond that, Doug and Donna went to great lengths to make our stay a very personal one, adding touches such as handwritten notes, fresh flowers, gift bags, and even a personalized sign with our names on it. So many unexpected touches to add charm and the sense you were really an honored guest in their home. Will definitely be back and will tell everyone I know about this one.

Top notch experience
This was our first experience with VRBO and it set the bar high! The space was very thoughtfully and meticulously layed out to maximize space function. Extra day to day amenities were provided that you may have been forgotten such as bug spray, umbrella, board games, etc. The space was very clean and the A/C and plumbing functioned well. As a bonus, Doug and Donna went above and beyond to make the experience more personal by providing a hand written note and fresh bakery items. It is clear they are very intentional about making their guests stay a memorable one. The location if you plan on visiting Homestead Heritage and is also only about a 15 minute drive from downtown Waco. All in all, we would recommend this VRBO. We had a wonderful experience and would love to come back!

The host was lovely and had very thoughtful touches. We came to tour the Magnolia store and grounds but to our surprise, the Homestead shops down the street from the cottage had so much to offer as well.

Once in a lifetime adventure
My recent stay at Doug & Donna's charming cottage for the solar eclipse was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, it was evident that they had poured their hearts into ensuring our stay was unforgettable. Upon entering the cottage, we were greeted by the soothing sounds of jazz floating through the air. It was a warm welcome that immediately set the tone for our stay. But what truly touched us were the thoughtful personal touches scattered throughout the space. A handwritten welcome note, a birthday card (for my husband, alongside the eclipse), and delightful locally sourced baked goods awaited us. And to top it all off, a commemorative keychain and sticker to mark the occasion were unexpected but greatly appreciated gestures. The cottage itself was a cozy haven, with ample space for our belongings, including two telescopes, a cooler, and a suitcase. Despite our abundance of gear, the cottage never felt cramped, & we were able to settle in comfortably. Beyond the eclipse, the cottage provided its own entertainment in the form of a live show starring the local wildlife. The large window across from the bed offered a front-row seat to a charming performance by birds and squirrels, which provided endless amusement throughout our stay. D&D cottage provided the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable eclipse adventure. Their hospitality, attention to detail, and warm demeanor made us feel truly welcomed and cared for. I cannot recommend this place enough!

What VRBO Aspires to Be
This was the single best VRBO experience my wife and I have ever had. From the construction to the maintenance to the cleanliness to the MULTIPLE special touches, if you stay in this space you are signing up for time of peace and goodwill...and I am not exaggerating. Doug and Donna seem to have found their vocation. A five-star location that deserves six stars.

Splendid Stay…
Everything about the experience was great. Absolutely enjoyable stay and peaceful location. The cottage was exactly as pictured and perfect for my wife and I. The owners, Doug and Donna, were wonderful. They went above and beyond to make our stay special. Definitely the first choice for us to stay when in the Waco area, especially with the proximity to Homestead Heritage.

We enjoyed our stay. The owners seemed to have paid much attention to many of the details, in the layout of the furniture, the use of the space, as well as many small touches. Including convenient power outlets for phone chargers, convenient switches for the bed-side lights, a shower large enough for the two of us to shower together, the heater/AC is positioned so it does not blow in your face when on the couch or in bed, a variety of places to hang bags or clothing, a small kitchenette with just a touch of class, plus others. If there is anything that we would recommend: 1) it would have been nice to have another mirror (the only one was in the bathroom), 2) it would have been nice to have more counter space in the bathroom for our paraphernalia (e.g. maybe a small table about 1'x3', or so, under the towel hooks); though these recommendations are very minor. Also, the number on the mailbox was easy to spot, even in the dark. And the directions to the proper cottage were easy to follow. We much prefer a private residence, like this cottage, instead of a hotel room, or similar. And compared to the many places we have stayed, this cottage has just that small touch of class, without going overboard, which makes it much better than average. We will definitely keep this place in our 'favorites' list.

Perfect Weekend
Nothing could have prepared my boyfriend and me for how absolutely perfect the cottage was! Doug and Donna not only had such a sweet little place for a weekend stay, but they also had so many little necessities for us to make sure we were taken care of during our stay. It was a weekend to celebrate 6 months with my boyfriend and also surprise him with an early birthday present - Doug and Donna left so many sweet notes and treats for us throughout our stay to help us celebrate. Genuinely, couldn’t have pictured a more perfect experience!

What a special place to be discovered! We found the Forest Cottage to be stocked and prepared in great detail. Doug and Donna were prepared for our arrival and their hospitality was consistent through our 4 day stay! The bonus of watching the birds each morning was delightful as we drank our morning coffee! The availability of streaming channels was nice as we unwound at the end of the day. Yes! This was a perfect quality time kind of get away for me and my husband and would recommend this location for any couple or even mother and daughter! 5 stars indeed!!

Fabulous and peaceful
Such an adorable cabin with lots of conveniences and lovely landscaping. Delicious snacks and a gorgeous picture window where you can watch birds and squirrels. Doug and Donna were attentive hosts providing to privacy while remaining available and dropping yummy surprises whenever we left to see the sights. I would definitely stay again and recommend this VRBO location to friends and family. Donna and Doug are “A++++” hosts!

Beautiful Experience
Doug & Donna are the epitome of hospitality. My daughter and I enjoyed a girls weekend trip for Silobration and staying at the Forest Cottage made our experience so much more than we expected. Fabulous Trip
We stayed two nights at Forest Cottage and it was one of the most well appointed places we have stayed in. Doug and Donna thought of everything. The space was so clean and we were greeted by a personalized sign welcoming us. we also loved how they used local products to support those businesses like soap, cookies and cinnamon buns. The sheets were amazingly soft. We hope to return again on another visit.

Absolute Perfection!
This cottage was nothing short of perfection! Our Hosts, Doug and Donna, went above and beyond to see that our stay was enjoyable. We ran into Doug getting coffee and he could not have been more welcoming! The cottage was immaculent; well appointed (everything you could possibly need was in the cottage) and tastefully decorated. We arrived back to the cottage each day with a surprise waiting for us. Located close to downtown Waco we enjoyed restaurants; Magnolia Market; and the Heritage Craft area. We will definitely stay in this cottage if we return to the area.

Quiet weekend getaway
Clean, comfortable and quiet! What a great place to visit for the weekend while we celebrated my wife’s birthday. Doug and Donna went above and beyond to make our stay extra special, such as a gift card to Cafe Homestead, fresh cinnamon buns and cookies and homemade leather coasters. They are quick and proactive in communication and provided a relaxing place for us to enjoy some quality time together.
