Not at all worth the nightly rate
First, the good: - The location of the house is good in that there’s reasonably easy access to metro north or the city. (About an hour) - The house has enough room for 2 families with 4 bedrooms + an extra bed in a common space. - Kitchen had what we needed for breakfast meals, and there were towels for everyone. - No complaints about checkin or comms from the host. On to the bad. For context, this was not a cheap/inexpensive stay. - The pictures look nice but do not at all show the severity in how poorly this house was remodeled. - Basic things like towel racks and toilet paper holders are missing in the house - Torn shower curtains - Lots of bugs in the house, primarily ants and centipedes - A breaker popped twice during our stay with normal use (we deduced that AC, fridge, kitchen and bathroom were all on that same circuit - suspect electrical work) - The stairs up to the house are long & steep, so if you have an elderly parent that isn’t super mobile, this is not the house for you. If this place were a low rate per night - not great but reasonable compromises. At the rate per night price point we paid this place is a ripoff. I would avoid unless it were being listed for cheap.

Unrealized Potential
Six of use stayed at this VRBO for a wedding weekend in White Plains. We all thought the house is probably in the midst of a renovation and the accommodations were “half-baked.” Positives: The house is in a lovely, quiet neighborhood within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. The house is large; all of the bedrooms are very big and there was more than enough space for the 6 of us to be comfortable. The air conditioning (window units, not central AC) was very effective on a warm weekend. We had no trouble staying cool. The host was responsive when we had questions and was kind enough to let us stay a little extra on our departure date since our flights were pushed later. Negatives: As I said, the house felt very incomplete. The bedrooms each have a bed and a bedside table. No other furniture. Lighting was weird. The living room has two ceiling light fixtures that can accommodate 6 bulbs in each but each fixture has only 2 mismatched bulbs. The main floor bathroom has an overhead light and a brand new light fixture over the sink, but it has no lightbulbs in it. Lighting in the main floor bedroom was very bad. While the kitchen is newly remodeled, it is not well equipped. Definitely not a chef’s kitchen; only one useful counter and minimal plates, glasses, etc. While this wasn’t a problem for us, it should be noted that there are many steep steps to get from the street to the front door, and no handrails. It worked for us, but we were expecting more.

Overall the stay was very good. The house was recently renovated and looks really nice from afar but up close the renovation was pretty bad, we honestly had a good laugh about all the little things we found (2 of us are General contractor). The house was quite, comfortable for 8 large man and everything worked. Thanks
