"Although our schedule only allowed us to stay for one night, I wish we were able to stay longer! The views from both floors of the property was amazing. There was a private waterfall on the property and the hike to it was so cool! I loved stargazing at night - I've never seen the sky so dark - we could even see the entire Milky Way! And sleeping at night to the sounds of the nature made it feel like we were in the middle of a jungle. The house was a great set-up with the wrap-around deck. Well...

"We were delighted at this property’s cleanliness, as well as both its remoteness and close proximity to Hilo town. It was a perfect place to reconnect with and enjoy our college-aged sons. The home was clean, breezy and its kitchen supplied everything we needed for multiple meals together at home. Walks along Beach Road and the shore access (a short walk) were powerfully impactful. The pool was a cool respite on warm afternoons. Thank you, Suzy!"

"We did enjoy our stay with some minor improvements needed. Number one impressive kitchen from photos but oven and cooktop were difficult to operate. We never did get either ovens to work. Poorly out fitted no vegetable peeler or box grater. Blender was broken and three chipped wine glasses only. This was rectified within 24 hours. No plastic ware for outdoor pool area. BBQ only had one propane tank with no spare to be found. Given the distance back to Hilo and the fact that ovens didn’t work...

"I really enjoyed staying at this house. I was plenty big for my family of 6 and we enjoyed the lush foliage and koi pond. We also loved the small town of Honomu, which we walked to every morning. My only complaint was the cleanliness. The dining room table setting was dusty and looked like it hadn’t been touched in a month. Also there was animal poop all over inside the house. I thought at first it was rodents, but eventually realized (I think) it was from geckos."

"We celebrated Labor Day weekend with family and friends on the Big Island. This rental fit all our needs and then some. From the relaxing views of the ocean and beautiful landscape to the pool, bbq grill and fire pit. What could you ask for? A jacuzzi? We can't wait to stay here again."

"we met the owners on our arrival and found them to be extremely involved and wonderful hosts, our stay was also wonderful but we did have a few hic-ups , it. seems the company in charge of supply and care of the unit was being changed so we did not receive proper responses to our requests. after we found out who the new manager was (John) he took care of everything, Thank you again John. we highly recommend a stay at the Treehouse at Hakalau. we will return."

"I was super excited to stay at this property. The pluses...the Koy pond. The fish are amazing and love to eat. Also, the sounds at night from nature. Would have been nice to have a lounger in the sun room rather than just chairs. Not many other pluses. We tried to get connected to Internet. The welcome book didn't seem to match the house. The descriptions were off. There were at least 5 remotes but none of them did anything. Only one turned off and on the TV. TV was activated through Roku....

"This is definitely something different from most vacation properties. Unfortunately for us, our stay corresponded with a 'kona low' rain storm and so we couldn't take full advantage of uniqueness of the property. In drier weather this could have been a lot of fun, but with constant rain it was only a step up from being stuck in a tent in the rain. The property managers were super friendly and helpful. The kitchenette is basically like camping. Don't plan on cooking much in it."
