"We had an amazing two nights at the sweet Riverside Cottage! The property is idyllic for a getaway in nature with all the comforts of a real house at hand. From the efficient wood stove to the beautiful art and furniture, much of which is hand made by the owners themselves, this place is as harmonious and peaceful as it gets. "If you are looking for a secluded spot, this is the place. We enjoyed going for walks and kayaking around the island. The kitchen is spacious so we did a fair bit of cooking, although it’s a short drive into town to go out to dinner if that’s what you prefer. The only drawback is that the downstairs bedroom was a bit loud because of pumps turning on and off at night, but if you’re a sound sleeper that shouldn’t be a problem. "

"The house was quite nice overall. A little disappointing that the woodstove didn't work, especially as the weather was cool and wet. The water is quite soft, but tastes good; and the water heater works fine. We spent a chilly first night as the baseboard heaters were set to 10C (50F), and the control buttons are really tiny and hard to notice. A heads up from the owner would have been helpful. It was plenty warm once I found the controls. The setting is beautiful, and the stairs down to the lake...

"We stayed here two short nights and we’re already planning a trip back in the fall to see the colours on Cape Breton. The owner met us as we arrived and we proceeded to get a brief tour of the property. They have thought of everything! Comfortable, functional yet stylish - the design aesthetics are beautiful and clearly considered throughout. We loved the hot tub and outdoor shower. Beautiful sunsets.
